HD Ratings: Alice and Rings Lord It Over Rivals
TV2’s HD transmissions of Alice in Wonderland and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King won their time slots in most of the key demographics.
Sunday’s Alice averaged 8.3% – 10.3% opposite TV3’s HD re-run of Madagascar (4.8% – 6.1%) while Friday’s King drew 5.0% – 8.0% over its four-hour broadcast.
King’s HD competition included TV One’s Dallas (1.05% – 3.75% over two hours) and TV3’s Graham Norton Show (4.8% – 6.5%).
In other HD ratings news:
❑ 2 Broke Girls has been a summer ratings bust for TV2, with Border Security and Road Cops invariably beating if not trouncing it at 7pm weeknights
❑ TV3’s CSI combo, New York and Miami, had one of its strongest nights on Saturday, drawing 6.5% – 7.0% of household shoppers and 5.2% – 6.1% of 25-54 year-olds, partly due to the popularity of lead-in Ice Road Truckers (4.0% – 6.8%) and the unpopularity of TV One’s Pan Am (1.2% – 3.4%)
❑ TV3’s Hamish & Andy’s Caravan of Courage ended its Thursday run competitive with TV2’s Embarrassing Bodies: 6.1% – 7.3% vs 6.1% – 8.9%
❑ TV2’s Wednesday re-run of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest averaged 5.7% – 8.1% to largely win its slot while Tuesday’s Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets conjured up an unbeatable 6.2% – 12.0%.
