HD Ratings: Amazing Razes Rest in Race

The first trans-Tasman Amazing Race contest, Australia v NZ, easily won its slot on Tuesday, when the premiere averaged 6.4% – 9.5% of the major demographics.

It shed more than half the viewership of lead-in My Kitchen Rules (14.7% – 19.2%) but streaked ahead of the competition and helped to lift TV2’s peak-hour ratings and shares week-on-week in all the key demos.

The Mentalist (1.9% – 7.9%) isn’t rating as well on TV One as it did on TV2 but out-rated TV3’s Blades of Glory (2.7% – 3.1%).

The latter had a much softer lead-in, with The House That £100k Built averaging 2.8% – 4.3% compared to Highway Cops’ 6.7% – 11.3% and SCU’s 5.6% – 12.8%.

Nigel Latta’s School Report: What’s Going On at 9.30 was down on the previous week’s Latta special, averaging 3.9% – 6.1%, but these were still strong numbers for TV One at that time of the night, particularly against opposition as fierce as Race.

While Shortland Street had a strong night (15.4% – 21.3%), lead-out MKR out-rated it in the 25-54 demo and drew the same percentage of 18-49 year-olds.

Tuesday’s peak-hour HD channel ratings and shares were:

  • A18-49: TV One, 6.8 rating/23.1 share; TV2, 10.5 rating/35.6 share; TV3, 3.9 rating/13.1 share
  • A18-39: TV One, 5.0 rating/18.4 share; TV2, 9.9 rating/36.5 share; TV3, 4.0 rating/14.7 share
  • A25-54: TV One, 8.3 rating/24.6 share; TV2, 11.4 rating/33.8 share; TV3, 4.6 rating/13.6 share
  • HHS/k: TV One, 10.1 rating/26.7 share; TV2, 13.6 rating/36.1 share; TV3, 4.9 rating/13.1 share.

TV2 was just as dominant on Monday with Shortland Street (15.7% – 23.2%), MKR (14.5% – 19.6%) and Grey’s Anatomy (4.3% – 9.1%) while TV One’s Criminal Minds averaged 3.9% – 7.0% and Intelligence, 1.7% – 5.1%.

  1. Can it be that The Mentalist isn’t doing so well on TV One because Red John’s ID has been revealed on the net. I did a search on Google this afternoon and the info my search produced is apparently the ID of Red John. No, it isn’t SUGAR DADDY!
