HD Ratings: Another Bleak Week for The Blacklist

After last week’s comeback, The Blacklist was a write-off on Sunday.

The General Ludd episode, which guest starred Weeds’ Justin Kirk (above), was out-rated in the major demographics by both Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD and Offspring a week out from TV3 airing a double-episode.

The FBI drama averaged only 3.1% – 5.5% compared to SHIELD’s 7.9% – 9.8% and Offspring’s 4.8% – 7.4%.

Only among adults 25-54 – the audience both TV3 and TV One target – did The Blacklist beat Offspring.

It was a great return to form for the Australian drama after last week’s low, helped by MasterChef NZ serving it a lead-in of 5.5% – 9.3% compared to The Great Food Race delivering The Blacklist 3.8% – 7.2%.

Despite Race’s competitiveness among household shoppers with kids, it rated below 4.7% in the other key demos whereas MasterChef only slipped below 7.0% with adults 18-39.

However, Race largely footed it with TV2’s re-run of Happy Feet: 4.8% – 7.5%.

At 9.30, the season finale of Rake scored a season high, with 2.8% – 5.4%, besting Hawaii Five-O (1.0% – 2.4%) but well behind The Tomorrow People (6.4% – 8.0%).

Sunday’s peak-hour HD channel ratings and shares were:

  • Adults 18-49: TV One, 6.1 rating/20.6 share; TV2, 6.3 rating/21.3 share; TV3, 4.7 rating/15.6 share
  • Adults 18-39: TV One, 4.8 rating/17.6 share; TV2, 6.9 rating/25.1 share; TV3, 3.9 rating/14.2 share
  • Adults 25-54: TV One, 7.3 rating/22.6 share; TV2, 6.1 rating/19.0 share; TV3, 5.8 rating/18.1 share
  • HHS: TV One, 7.5 rating/20.5 share; TV2, 9.5 rating/25.7 share; TV3, 6.8 rating/18.5 share.

On Saturday, Sherlock bowed out with only 2.7% – 3.2% of the key demos, to lose against HD rival CSI: NY (2.2% – 6.4%).

The latter had one of its best weeks this season and even out-rated Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (3.7% – 4.8%) with adults 25-54 and challenged it in the 18-49 demo.

Hannibal, however, continued to struggle, with 0.6% – 2.1%, as did MasterChef MasterClass (3.2% – 4.6%) on the back of Hyundai Country Calendar (5.3% – 7.6%).

After slowly building on Fridays in its new slot, The Simpsons (3.4% – 4.7%) suffered a setback opposite the return of The Middle (6.8% – 9.9%) while stablemate The Big Bang Theory (7.1% – 10.5%) crushed How I Met Your Mother (2.4% – 4.0%).

Despite its lead-in, TV2’s re-run of The Dark Knight averaged only 4.1% – 5.1% and was beaten by TV3’s Graham Norton Show and Kiwi comedies.

I guess one of the six people with “People Meters” didn’t watch The Blacklist this week.
