HD Ratings: Attention Seeker Stands Out
TVNZ 2’s Have You Been Paying Attention? stood out on Friday when the season premiere won the 8.30 hour in the core commercial demographics.
The panel show averaged 2.5% of the network’s target audience, 18-49 year-olds, and 2.7% of 25-54s vs 1.6%/2.5% respectively for TVNZ 1’s The Great Big Tony Design Challenge.
Despite being a repeat, lead-in Travel Guides averaged a solid 2.9% of 18-49s and 3.4% of 25-54s.
But the Aussie travelogue was still beaten by a resurgent Repair Shop on TVNZ 1, which averaged 3.2% of the younger demo and 4.4% of the older age group.
Three’s movie Super 8 could muster only 1.4% of 18-49s and 1.9% of 25-54s.

Earlier, TVNZ 1’s 1 News and Seven Sharp easily led the competition, helping the network to win the night with commanding key demo shares while TVNZ 2 finished ahead of Three.
On Thursday, TVNZ dominated from 7.00-9.30 with Shortland Street, MasterChef Australia, Ten 7 Aotearoa and Highway Patrol .
The premiere of Three’s The Love Hour was found wanting, with just 1.5% of 25-54s and 1.1% of 18-49s.
That set up NZ Today to average just 0.7% and 0.5% of these demos at 8.30 while Eden’s premiere of the latest Underbelly instalment, Vanishing Act, averaged 0.5% and 0.6% off the back of 0.3% and 0.1% for Newshub Live at 8pm.
From 9.30, Prime’s Commonwealth Games coverage pulled ahead.
Despite TVNZ 2’s peak-hour dominance, TVNZ 1 still won the night with the biggest key demo shares.
On Wednesday, MasterChef Australia pipped TVNZ 1’s Give Us a Clue while Three’s The Block: NZ: Redemption trailed in third place.
But at 8.30 TVNZ 1’s Location Location Location regained the top spot, to beat TVNZ 2’s Taskmaster NZ – although the latter still drew twice as many core demo viewers as Three’s Sort Your Life Out NZ.
Thereafter, Prime’s games coverage led.
TVNZ 1 easily won the night while TVNZ 2 and Three were competitive.
On Tuesday, The Block performed better against MasterChef, with the two shows splitting both key demos, leaving TVNZ 1’s Eat Well for Less NZ? with the leftovers.
It also was a tight race at 8.30, when TVNZ 2’s NCIS: Hawai’i averaged 1.8% of 25-54s, TVNZ 1’s Unbreakable 1.7% and Three’s NCIS 1.5%.
But at 9.30 NCIS: Los Angeles topped TVNZ 2’s SEAL Team, which beat Coronation Street — all of which lost to Prime’s games programming.
Again, TVNZ 1 had the night’s biggest key demo shares will TVNZ 2 and Three were competitive.
