HD Ratings: Aussie Bachelor a Heartbreaker for TV2

TV One’s new-look SD line-up on Tuesday broke the HD competition’s hearts.

TV2’s debut of The Bachelor Australia averaged only 3.2% – 5.1% of the major demographics – adults 18-39, 18-48, 25-54, household shoppers with kids – and was least watched by the channel’s 18-39 target audience.

This was on the back of Shortland Street’s 13.3% – 15.3% and was a poor lead-in to an HD re-run of Cop Out (2.0% – 3.4%).

Even Four’s SD re-run of Without a Paddle was more popular than the Bruce Willis comedy, averaging 2.2% – 4.1% and topping it in every key demo except HHS.

TV3’s HD line-up started strongly, with The Block: All Stars averaging 6.8% – 7.8% to largely win the 7.30 hour in key demos.

The season premiere of NCIS also rated well – 5.9% – 8.1% — and won the hour with adults 25-54 and HHS.

But TV One’s The Plane Crash (5.1% – 7.1%) was more popular with the other demos and its lead-out, Secrets of the Pickpockets, averaged 3.1% – 6.2% to beat NCIS: LA’s season premiere in every demo except HHS.

Had a feeling The Bachelor Australia would tank on TV2. Be interesting to see how Thursdays and Fridays episodes rate.
