HD Ratings: Bad News for Newshub Live

Three’s Newshub Live and The Project were trounced in Wednesday’s ratings by TVNZ 1’s 1 News at Six and Seven Sharp.

1 News drew twice as many viewers in three of the four core commercial demographics and in the 18-39 demo that Newshub Live often wins, it was ahead by 1.2 rating points.

Whereas 1 News averaged 8.4% of 25-54, Newshub Live could draw only 3.7% and even TVNZ 2’s 6.00 re-run of The Big Bang Theory rated higher than the bulletin’s first half-hour: 4.4% of 25-54 vs 3.9%.

TBBT also out-rated Newshub Live in the other core commercial demos.

At 7.00, Seven Sharp won in all the key demos whereas on Monday and Tuesday, it seesawed with The Project.

In the 25-54 demo the both networks target, the former averaged 3.7% and the latter 2.2% against Shortland Street’s 8.2%.

Three’s only bright spot for the night was Married at First Sight, which out-rated My Kitchen Rules in every prime demo except household shoppers with kids.

But TVNZ 2 rebounded with The Big Bang Theory, Mom and I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! to win the rest of the night.

Three’s Swipe Right for Murder was more popular than TVNZ 1’s The Aussie Property Flippers and The Secrets of Your Food, which it overlapped.

It averaged a 25-54 rating of 2.7% compared to Flippers’ 2.1% and Food’s 1.4%.

But such was TVNZ 2’s lead that it easily won the night in all the key demos.
