HD Ratings: Bad Night for Bad Boys

Three’s free-to-air premiere of Bad Boys for Life on Sunday wasn’t good news for the network, finishing behind TVNZ 1’s launch of The Pembrokeshire Murders and another Fast & Furious re-run.

The action-comedy averaged just 1.1% of Three’s target audience, 25-54 year-olds, and 0.9% of the next key commercial demographic, 18-49 year-olds.

TVNZ 1’s George Clarke’s Remarkable Renovations won the 8.30 hour with a 25-54 average of 2.9% and an 18-49 average of 2.4%.

At 9.30, new UK crime drama The Pembrokeshire Murders seesawed with the second half of TVNZ 2’s 2 Fast 2 Furious, averaging 1.4%/1.1% of the major demos.

2 Fast averaged 1.9%/1.5% overall, on the back of an increasingly popular Britain’s Got Talent.

The variety show earned season highs of 2.9% and 2.5%, but still trailed TVNZ 1’s Sunday (4.6%/3.7%) and Three’s Dancing with the Stars (3.9%/3.3%).

TVNZ 1’s Sunday night crime block is rating well for the network, with first-run Pembrokeshire leads-out Halifax Retribution and Clarice winning their slots in the 25-54 race.

Prime’s double-bill of La Brea and Yellowstone still languishes, averaging fewer 25-54 viewers than Eden’s movie The Catcher was a Spy (0.4%), Maori TV’s Nowhere Boy (0.2%), and Duke’s Reel Destinations (0.2%) and Man Eats Wild (0.2%),

TVNZ 1 won the night with 33.4% shares of both key demos while Three was runner-up.

On Saturday, Sky’s Super Rugby Pacific coverage blitzed the FTA line-ups, with TVNZ 1’s premiere of The Holiday averaging 0.6% of 25-54s and 0.4% of 18-49s, out-rating TVNZ 2’s network movie premiere of Bombshell and Three’s NRL coverage.

TVNZ 1 dominated Friday evening with 1 News, Seven Sharp and The Repair Shop but thereafter seesawed with TVNZ 2’s Have You Been Paying Attention?, Three’s movie Pacific Rim: Uprising and Sky’s rugby coverage.

Note: These overnight ratings exclude viewership of the networks’ +1 SD channels.
