HD Ratings: Bake Off Wins With Fewer Viewers

Surprisingly, the final of The Great Kiwi Bake Off on Thursday rated much lower than earlier episodes.

It averaged just 3.9% of TVNZ 1’s target audience, 25-54 year-olds, and 2.6% of 18-49s vs 5.1% / 3.2% the previous week.

However, Whangārei mental health doctor Alby Hailes’ win was still more popular than the shows it overlapped: TVNZ 2’s Motorway Patrol and The Big Fat Quiz of Everything and Three’s The Masked Singer and The Graham Norton Show.

Three’s light-ent series also rated lower in the 25-54 demo than the prior Thursday but Motorway Patrol and Quiz out-rated the season finale of The Voice Australia a week earlier in the same time slot.

Quiz also led TVNZ 1’s Extreme Cake Makers and Coronation Street, and Three’s Live at the Apollo in both core demos.

But TVNZ 1 dominated earlier, with The Chase, 1 News at 6pm and Seven Sharp again proving unassailable.

The network won the night with a 31.1 share of 25-54s and a 27.1 share of 18-49s while TVNZ 2 led Three by about a point in each key demo.

Note: These overnight ratings exclude viewership of the networks’ +1 SD channels.
