HD Ratings: Bond Still Gilt Edged

Three scored with another venerable movie franchise on Thursday when Pierce Brosnan’s first outing as James Bond topped the ratings in all the core commercial demographics.

GoldenEye, which Kiwi Martin Campbell directed in 1995, averaged 3.7% of 25-54s, 3.2% of 18-49s, 2.3% of 18-39s and 4.6% of household shoppers with kids.

The first hour lost to TVNZ 2’s Police Ten 7 and Highway Patrol but was well ahead of TVNZ 1’s HOMEmade, except in the 25-54 demo, where the two seesawed.

But thereafter, it out-rated everything.

In the also-ran stakes, TVNZ 1’s George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces edged ahead of 2’s Seven Year Switch (UK) from 8.30-9.30, and Coronation Street easily beat Don’t Tell the Doctor from 9.30-10.30.

Earlier, 1 News sharply out-rated Newshub Live in all the key demos except 18-39, where the two level-pegged.

But the networks’ positions reversed at 7.00, when The Project saw off Seven Sharp except among 18-39s, where each averaged 3.2%.

TVNZ 1 won the night’s biggest 25-54 share, Three won with 18-49s, and TVNZ 2 was most popular with 18-39s and HHS/k.
