HD Ratings: Bones Buries Time With Time After Time Guest Star

TV3’s Bones showed its true colours on Thursday, when the 150th episode rated higher than usual to average 6.7% – 12.0% of the key demographics.

It was out-rated by TV One’s SD comedies Miranda and Mrs Brown’s Boys but The Ghost in the Machine, which guest starred singer Cyndi Lauper, pipped TV2’s Once Upon a Time.

Bones’ David Boreanaz

The latter averaged 6.6% – 8.7% and was most competitive in the 18-39 and 18-49 demos.

Ironically, the popularity of the UK comedy strand TV One’s built seems to have been more at TV2’s expense than TV3’s — although TV2 regained lost ground at 9.30, when 20/20 topped TV3’s Project Runway in the 18-49 and 25-54 demos.

But TV3 owns 9.30 Wednesdays, when Sons of Anarchy dominates the key demos.

This week’s episode rated 6.1% – 10.0% even on the back of largely lower ratings for lead-in 3rd Degree (4.0% – 7.8%), although the current affairs hour this week drew more household shoppers.

Otherwise, TV2 ruled with My Kitchen Rules (13.6% – 19.7%), which was even more popular than lead-in Shortland Street (11.2% – 14.4%), and HD sitcoms The Big Bang Theory (13.9% – 20.1%) and 2 Broke Girls (10.4% – 12.8%) while late-night drama The Walking Dead averaged 2.4% – 3.5%.

Ugh … I thought this Bones to be one of the weakest episodes so far into this current season. The seen-through-the-eyes-of-the-victim gimmick was feeble and cliched. I should have watched Once Upon a Time instead.
