HD Ratings: Bones Embarrasses Bodies
TV3’s Bones double-bill strategy went from zero to hero in a week.
Pairing a season-six re-run with a season-eight first-run episode seemed risky, especially after the first teaming tanked in the ratings.
But last night the Bones re-run narrowly out-rated TV2’s Embarrassing Bodies Live From the Clinic with adults 18-49 and 25-54, the demographics that matter most to TV3.
Overall, it averaged 3.1% – 5.8% of the key demos, compared to Bodies’ 3.8% – 7.0% (Bodies easily beat Bones with adults18-39 and household shoppers).
The 9.30 Bones improved markedly on the previous week’s, which averaged only 2.2% – 3.5%, and resoundingly lost to Bodies in each of the major demos.
This week’s re-run was also competitive with TV One’s Catherine Tate Show and out-rated it with adults 25-54.
The 8.30 Bones also rated well, averaging 6.3% – 9.0% to beat outright TV2’s HD option, Once Upon a Time (5.5% – 8.2%).
Wednesday’s season finale of Sons of Anarchy averaged a so-so 5.1% – 8.1% to mostly win its slot on the back of another weak night for HD current affairs hour 3rd Degree (3.3% – 5.9%).
3rd Degree has exceptionally tough competition in The Big Bang Theory (13.8% – 17.7%) and 2 Broke Girls (9.9% – 12.6%) but should be more competitive against 24 Hours in A&E (4.1% – 8.5%).
