HD Ratings: Boozy Gower Toast of the Town
Three’s Patrick Gower:On Booze double-shot was a top-shelf hit over the two nights it aired.
Tuesday’s documentary averaged 7.0% of 25-54 year-olds, Three’s target audience, to obliterate the competition.
TVNZ 1’s First Responders averaged 2.7% and TVNZ 2’s NCIS: Hawai’i 2.8%.
This was despite Gower lead-in MasterChef NZ trailing TVNZ 2’s MasterChef Australia, which won the 7.30 hour in this core commercial demographic, and TVNZ 1’s premiere of Hongi to Hangi, which finished second.
Three’s viewership tumbled post-Gower, when NCIS: Los Angeles averaged 1.9% opposite TVNZ 2’s FBI International (2.2%) and TVNZ 1’s Coronation Street (1.1%).
Studio debate NewsHub Talks Booze easily won the 8.30 hour on Wednesday, with 4.0% of 25-54s and 3.1% of 18-49s.
Match Fit provided it an unbeatable lead-in, with averages of 4.5% and 2.9%.
TVNZ 1’s season premiere of Give Us a Clue averaged a sub-par 2.0%/1.6% to finish third at 7.30, behind MasterChef Australia (2.5%/2.6%).
Lead-out Kirstie & Phil’s Love or List It was down sharply, to 0.9%/0.6%, while 8.30 rival Taskmaster UK averaged 2.5%/1.7% opposite the Newshub special.
But Gower’s popularity couldn’t stop TVNZ 2’s Question Team (1.4%/1.2%) from out-rating lead-out SAS Australia (1.2%/0.7%); Coronation Street averaged 0.7%/0.5%.
Nonetheless, Three won the night with a 27% share of 25-54s (vs 21.5% for TVNZ 1 and 18.9% for TVNZ 2) and 23.3% of 18-49s (vs 21.5% for TVNZ 1 and 22.1% for TVNZ 2).
Note: These overnight ratings exclude viewership of the networks’ +1 SD channels.

Interesting that MasterChef Australia beat MasterChef NZ, do you know the ratings they both got?
I only have the 25-54 data. MasterChef NZ averaged 3.7% and MasterChef Oz 3.9%.
