HD Ratings: Broadchurch and Blacklist Beat Up SHIELD

TV2’s Agents of SHIELD largely lost to both TV One’s Broadchurch and TV3’s The Blacklist on Sunday.

The Marvel drama slumped to a season low, with only 3.8% – 4.7% of the major demographics — and that was on the back of The Voice Australia (8.1% – 12.8%) dominating its slot and The Middle (6.0% – 8.2%) winning in the 18-39 and 18-49 demos.

TV One’s Topp Country averaged 5.5% – 9.5% and helped lead-out Broadchurch (5.6% – 8.7%) to score strongly among adults 25-54 and household shoppers with kids.

The murder-mystery and TV3’s The Blacklist (4.5% – 6.8%) were neck-and-neck in the 18-49 demo but the latter had the edge with adults 25-54 and the former with adults 18-39 and HHS/k.

Amazingly, SHIELD didn’t win any of the key demos, which meant lead-out The Tomorrow People (1.4% – 2.7%) took a hit, too.

It lost to Hawaii Five-O (1.8% – 2.7%) in the 25-54 demo and tied with it among adults 18-49 and was beaten by TV One’s premiere of Breathless (1.7 – 3.7%) in the 25-54 and HHS/k demos.

At 7.00, TV3’s House Rules averaged 4.7% – 7.2% to be competitive with TV One’s Sunday and Topp Country.

The outcome was the most competitive Sunday night of the season, with TV One dominating in three of the key demos.

Sunday’s peak-hour HD channel ratings and shares were:

  • A18-49: TV One, 5.7 rating/20.2 share; TV2, 5.6 rating/20.2 share; TV3, 5.1 rating/18.4 share

On Saturday, TV3’s Ice Road Truckers rebounded with 3.5% – 6.5% while the network’s premiere of Water for Elephants averaged 2.9% – 4.6% and won with adults 25-54.

TV2’s Bewitched averaged 4.0% – 5.4% to dominate in the younger key demos and lead-out Due Date was largely tops, with 3.9% – 4.9%.

On Friday, TV2 scored with The Voice Australia (9.0% – 11.3%) and the premiere of I Am Number Four (6.7% – 9.1%), both of which won their slots opposite TV3’s improving House Rules (5.5% -8.7%) and The Graham Norton Show (5.3% – 7.7%).
