HD Ratings: Car Crash TV Protects SHIELD
Rescheduling Agents of SHIELD to Thursdays after a powerhouse line-up has rescued TV2’s Marvel series from oblivion.
This week’s episode averaged 3.9% – 6.3% of the commercial demographics, which was higher than its season average on Sunday nights.
Its popularity has been buoyed by the appeal of two hours of top-rating reality TV off the back of a resurgent Shortland Street (11.3% – 19.9%).
The serial has staged a spectacular recovery after being in the doldrums for months and helped to drive the rest of the night for TV2, with Police Ten 7 (9.7% – 17.5%) rating almost as highly, Car Crash TV (8.3% – 13.9%) and The Undateables (8.7% – 13.0%).
TV1’s Britain’s Got Talent unexpectedly took a hit this week at 7.30 (2.5% – 6.0%) while the 9.30 results show averaged 2.8% – 4.9% — which was more than its lead-in, the fading-fast Word Up (2.5% – 4.4%).
TV3’s Grand Designs Revisited averaged 3.2% – 4.7% to finish third at 7.30 except in the 18-39 demo (where it beat BGT) while the final of Lost & Found (2.6% – 7.0%) seesawed with TV1’s line-up.
TV2 resoundingly won the night in all four key demos:
On Wednesday, TV2 dominated with Shortland Street, My Kitchen Rules, The Big Bang Theory and 2 Broke Girls.
But TV1’s return of Gadget Man rated well (5.3% – 9.3%) as did the season premieres of This Town (3.2% – 5.8%) and Undercover Boss USA (2.6% – 5.2%).
TV3’s Top Gear repeats continue to struggle (2.5% – 3.9%), being least watched in the channel’s target 25-54 demo, while its re-run of Unstoppable didn’t live up to its title (1.8% – 6.0%), averaging below 4% in all the key demos except household shoppers with kids.
Again, TV2 made a clean sweep of the night:
