HD Ratings: Chasers Unbeatable

Beat the Chasers bounced back from its disastrous season premiere to easily win its slot on Wednesday.

The game show averaged 4.3% of TVNZ 1’s target audience, 25-54 year-olds, and 3.3% of 18-49s — or roughly double the viewership of the previous week.

TVNZ 2’s MasterChef Australia averaged 3.4%/3.3% to finish second at 7.30, ahead of Three’s The Block NZ: Redemption (2.9%/2.1%).

MasterChef’s popularity helped Taskmaster NZ to win at 8.30 (2.9%/2.6%) while Three’s David Lomas Investigates (2.7%/1.6%) edged out TVNZ 1’s George Clarke’s Flipping Fast (2.1%/1.5%).

All three networks were keenly competitive at 9.30, when TVNZ 2’s Guessable (0.9%/0.8%) pipped TVNZ 1’s Coronation Street (0.7%/0.4%) and Three’s Million Dollar Murders (0.8%/0.5%) — but still trailed Bravo’s 911: Crisis Center (1.2%/1.0%).

Earlier, 1 News averaged twice as many 25-54 and 18-49 viewers as Newshub Live and Seven Sharp easily led The Project at 7.00.

TVNZ 1 won the night’s biggest key demo shares while TVNZ 2 was second in the 18-49 race and Three was the 25-54 runner-up.

On Thursday, The Great Kiwi Bake Off (3.4%/2.2%) won the 25-54 demo but lost the 18-49 vote to MasterChef (2.9%/2.3%).

Three’s The Great Kiwi Comedy Debate averaged 1.9%/1.2%, which improved on the previous specials that aired in the slot, while Mean Mums averaged 1.0%/0.9%.

Airing a second consecutive episode of MasterChef paid off for TVNZ 2, as it beat the competition in both key demos and helped the network to win the night’s second-biggest core demo shares after TVNZ 1.

Note: These overnight ratings exclude viewership of the networks’ +1 SD channels.

I’m surprised Three hasn’t stolen 911: CC from Bravo to help lift its Wednesday share. Looking back from Bravo’s launch, I never would of thought that such programming would feature on its schedule considering the many Housewives franchises it has.

  2. Do you have any ratings for Neighbours The Final Farewell on TVNZ 1?

  3. No, not yet, Sheldon. Hope to be able to post results later today.
