HD Ratings: Chip Off the Old Block

The Block NZ roared back in the ratings on Monday, with the season premiere of Redemption not only winning the 7.30 hour in the core commercial demographics but also helping lead-out 9-1-1 to do likewise.

Redemption averaged 3.9% of 25-54s and 2.7% of 18-49s, which was up sharply on the previous week’s MasterChef NZ (2.1%/1.4%) and led 9-1-1 to average 2.9%/2.0%.

The latter spurred sister show Lone Star 9-1-1 to win the 9.30 hour, with 1.7%/ 1.3%.

On TVNZ 1, Fair Go averaged 3.4%/2.5% ahead of the premiere of Shop Well for the Planet?  snaring 2.0%/1.2% and the re-run of Billy Connolly’s Great American Trail 1.2%/0.8%.

TVNZ 2’s MasterChef Australia finished third at 7.30, with 2.3%/1.6%, while Extreme Weddings seesawed with Planet and Connolly (1.3%/0.9%); lead-out Naked Attraction averaged 1.6%/1.0%.

Earlier, TVNZ 1 dominated with The Chase, 1 News at 6pm and Seven Sharp all winning their slots in the key demos.

But it wasn’t enough to stop Three commanding the night’s biggest share of 25-54s by the narrowest of margins: 25.3% vs 25.2%.

The 18-49 race also was tight, with TVNZ 1 scoring a 24.6 share for the night and Three 22.6%.

Note: These overnight ratings exclude viewership of the networks’ +1 SD channels.
