HD Ratings: Clue Loses for First Time
TVNZ 1’s Give Us a Clue ended its top-rating form on Wednesday by losing in the core commercial demographics for the first time.
It averaged 4.8% of 25-54 year-olds and 4.1% of 18-49s but finished behind TVNZ 2’s big new hit, Celebrity Treasure Island.
The latter averaged 6.6% / 5.2% and helped lead-out Taskmaster NZ to notch up season highs of 5.0% / 4.4% to win the 8.30 hour.
It was the third night in a row that CTI wiped out the competition.
Particularly hit hard were Three’s re-runs of Bondi Rescue, which averaged 3.1% / 2.4% at 7.30, and 2.4% / 2.3% at 8.00.
As a result, lead-out LA’s Finest could muster only a shockingly low 1.1% / 0.9% and stablemate Hawaii Five-O 1.4% / 0.5%.
H5O was up against TVNZ 2’s Would I Lie to You?, which averaged a time slot-winning 2.9% / 2.6% while a re-run of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown continued the network’s winning streak.
Over on TVNZ 1, Kirstie & Phil’s Love It or List It averaged 3.8% / 3.3% and Coronation Street 1.3% of both key demos.
The popularity of 1 News at Six and Seven Sharp meant TVNZ 1 still won the night with 30+ shares of the major demos.
But TVNZ 2 was close behind, with 26.8% of 25-54s and 28.6% of 18-49s.
Note: These overnight ratings exclude viewership of the networks’ +1 SD channels.

I’m pleased the trial revival of Give Us a Clue has performed well for TVNZ though. It’s a good broad-demographics format, and they’ve done well to give it a few tweaks for the new version. A nice change from the parade of reality dating/building/cooking shows.
