HD Ratings: Demolition Thursday on Three

Three’s bold Thursday night makeover flopped opposite TVNZ 1’s makeover shows.

Last week’s premieres of Lego Masters USA, Demolition Down Under and Cocaine Trade Exposed: The Invisibles finished third behind the competition on both TVNZ 1 and TVNZ 2 in the key commercial demographics.

TVNZ 1 dominated the night, with Your Garden Made Perfect and 10 Years Younger in 10 Days while Coronation Street see-sawed with TVNZ 2’s A Current Affair.

Garden averaged 3.9% of 25-54 year-olds and 3.0% of 18-49s, Younger 3.3% / 2.5% and Coro 1.9% / 1.7%.

Lego averaged 2.2% / 2.0% of these demos, Demolition 1.3% / 1.0% and Cocaine 1.6% / 1.1%.

Week-on-week Lego and Demolition largely drew fewer viewers than the light-ent shows they replaced but Cocaine did improve on 2nd Chance Charlie in the 25-54 demo.

On TVNZ 2, MasterChef Australia dished up 3.6% / 2.7%, Police Ten 7 2.5% / 2.2%, Renters 2.4% / 2.5% and ACA 2.1% of each key demo.

TVNZ 1 easily won the night with the biggest demo shares but the race for second place between TVNZ 2 and Three was neck-and-neck because of Newshub Live and The Project out-rating TVNZ 2’s soaps earlier in the evening (Shortland Street averaged a shockingly low 3.3% / 2.7%).

Three had a better night on Friday, when 7.30 movie Fast & Furious out-rated in both core demos a double-ep of The Amazing Race Australia on TVNZ 2 and TVNZ 1’s The Repair Shop and Celebrity Best Home Cook.

Similarly, its Saturday network movie premiere of The Secret: Dare to Dream dominated post-9.00 while Sky’s Super Rugby coverage topped the 25-54 and 18-49 ratings earlier in the night.
