HD Ratings: Diehards Dominate Sunday

Sunday night’s network movie premieres of Goosebumps and Grimsby fell flat against the umpteenth re-runs of The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers and Die Hard 4.0.

The kidult monster romp averaged 2.8% of TVNZ 2’s target audience, 18-49 year-olds, compared to Towers’ 3.7% on TVNZ 1 and House Rules’ 4.3% on Three.

Spy spoof Grimsby fared worse, averaging 2.1% against Die Hard 4.0’s 3.3%.

Die Hard and Towers seesawed in the overnight ratings, with the latter dominating from 9.00

In the 25-54 stakes, the demographic that both TVNZ 1 and Three covet most, Towers averaged 4.7%, Die Hard 4.1% and Grimsby 2.2%.

Die Hard was helped by House Rules delivering it 5.4% of this demo, which was neck-and-neck with Towers from 8.15-8.30.

Towers and the top-rating 1 News helped TVNZ to win the night in most of the key demos, with Three second and TVNZ 2 third (even in the 18-49 race).

Only among household shoppers with kids could TVNZ 2 pip TVNZ 1, with a 24.8% channel share versus 24.3% (compared with 30.8% and 26.5% respectively the previous Sunday).

TVNZ 2 averaged a 30.8% share of HHS/k from January 7-13, compared to TVNZ 1’s 18.7% and Three’s 17.7%.

Over the same period, TVNZ 1’s channel share of 25-54s was 24%, TVNZ 2’s 20% and Three’s 18.9%.

TVNZ won four nights in this demo, TVNZ 2 was tops on Tuesday and Saturday, and Three on Friday.

I didn’t see any promos for Grimsby at all.

  2. Now we are on the roll. We already have all ready have MKR and Young Sheldon coming to Mondays. Will there be other supporting series of shows on the same night?
