HD Ratings: Dynamite Dynamo Works His Magic
Conjuring up the return of Dynamo: Magician Impossible helped TV One’s 7.30 Monday hour to score a rare win over TV3’s The Block NZ in key demographics.
The Block NZ averaged 11.9% – 16.9% and Dynamo, 9.7% – 16.7%.
That made the latter more popular with adults 18-49, 25-54 and household shoppers but adults 18-39 preferred The Block by a wide margin.
Both shows were well ahead of TV3’s HD sitcoms The Middle (7.9% – 11.0%) and Suburgatory (6.2% – 7.8%).
The illusionist’s success, however, wasn’t magical enough to stop TV3 winning the rest of the night with its re-run of Die Hard With a Vengeance (8.5% – 9.7%).
TV One’s Person of Interest averaged only 5.3% – 8.5%, despite its bumper lead-in, and stablemate Castle, 2.2% – 4.4%.
TV2’s Grey’s Anatomy also was down, to 6.8% – 9.9%.
On Sunday, TV One’s NZ’s Got Talent bounced back after a surprisingly soft launch the previous week.
It blitzed the competition with 12.1% – 19.6%, compared to 5.2% – 7.6% for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, 4.4% – 7.3% for Aliens in the Attic, and 5.1% – 6.1% for The Devil Wears Prada.
Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries is developing a solid following for TV One, with Saturday’s case averaging 4.0% – 5.1% of adults 18-49, 25-54 and HHS while TV2’s re-run of Around the World in 80 Days drew 6.1% – 7.1% of all the key demos.
TV3’s Blue Bloods also rated respectably, with 3.4% – 4.6% of the older demos and HHS.
TV3’s network HD premiere of Johnny English Reborn (4.1% – 6.2%) was no match for TV2’s comedy line-up, with the HD re-run of The Middle averaging an anything-but middling 9.9% – 15.1%.
TV2 also owned Thursday night, with Street Hospital (9.1% – 10.6%) and Arrow (6.7% – 8.3%) out-rating the competition, which included the penultimate episode of The Almighty Johnsons (2.5% – 3.4%).
