HD Ratings: East Coast Sinking?

The popularity of TVNZ 1’s Rich House Poor House sunk TVNZ 2’s East Coast Rising on Thursday.

The new series about an East Coast rugby team averaged 1.2% of 2’s target audience, 18-49 year-olds, and 1.5% of 25-54s — down three-tenths of a ratings point on its season premiere.

RHPH averaged 2.5% of 18-49s and 3.3% of 25-54s and Three’s Comedians Giving Lectures 1.1% and 1.3% respectively.

East Coast Rising retained its viewership of each key demographic over the half-hour and helped lead-out The Walkers to average 0.7% of 18-49s and 1.1% of 25-54s.

This was down on its season premiere of 1.1% and 1.3%.

The Walkers averaged half the viewership of TVNZ 1’s Coronation Street, which posted an above-average 1.8% of 18-49s and 2.2% of 25-54s.

Three’s Outsiders averaged 0.7% and 0.8% of these demos.

But Three’s 7.30 comedy hour 7 Days dominated with 3.1% of 18-49s and 4.0% of 25-54s vs 2.6%/3.3% for TVNZ 1’s Your Garden Made Perfect and 1.6%/2.4% for TVNZ 2’s MasterChef Australia (ahead of Ten 7 Aotearoa’s 1.8%/2.5%).

TVNZ 1’s Seven Sharp lead the 7.00 line-up, with Three’s The Project second and TVNZ 2’s Shortland Street third.

TVNZ 1 won the night with the the biggest shares of the core commercial demos, leading Three by at least 12 points in each, while TVNZ 2 had a 14.0 share of 25-54s and a 14.3 share of 18-49s.

Wednesday’s free-to-air viewership was crushed by Sky’s international rugby coverage, which averaged 5.1% of 25-54s and 3.8% of 18-49s.

Note: These overnight ratings exclude viewership of the networks’ +1 SD channels.
