HD Ratings: Empire Wasn’t Built in a Day
TV2’s Empire made a modest debut on Tuesday, winning its slot but with ratings that were a long way off being #1 with a bullet.
The musical-cum-soap opera averaged 4.8% – 5.4% of the commercial demographics, losing only to TV1’s Person of Interest (3.8% – 6.7%) among household shoppers with kids.
That was off the back of My Kitchen Rules’ 8.6% – 11.8% and ahead of Grey’s Anatomy’s 1.6% – 2.8%.
The ailing hospital drama won in the younger demos but was beaten by TV1’s Unforgettable (1.8% – 4.3%) in the 25-54 and HHS/k demos.
Without The Bachelor NZ as their lead-in, NCIS and NCIS: LA are struggling: the former averaged 2.3% – 2.7% and the latter, 0.7% – 1.6%.
Despite Empire’s underwhelming premiere, TV2 still easily won the night in all of the four key demos:
Enjoyed Empire last night. I hope its ratings continue to grow.
