HD Ratings: Fair Dinkum Favourites Rule

TVNZ 1’s Fair Go and Highway Cops won Monday’s 7.30 hour in three of the four core commercial demographics.

The former averaged 7.8% of 1’s target audience, 25-54 year-olds, and the latter, 6.6%.

Both series also were tops among 18-49s and household shoppers with kids while the 18-39 demo opted for TVNZ 2’s Heartbreak Island (3.4%) and Three’s All-Star Family Feud special (3.6%).

FF’s Outrageous FortuneWestside contest averaged 4.3% of 25-54s and 4.0% of 18-49s to finish second in the 7.30 hour; Heartbreak Island won only the HHS/k demo (5.3%).

Even though they were re-runs, Three’s Lost & Found and Killer Women With Piers Morgan won in every key demo (except 18-39 in the case of L&F).

On Sunday, the premiere of TVNZ 1’s Sunday Theatre season, In a Flash, averaged 4.0% off 25-54s to beat TVNZ 2’s Clash of the Titans (3.1%) but not Three’s The Boss (4.2%), which benefitted from a huge Dancing With the Stars lead-in.

But in the 25-54 and 18-49 demos not even the final of DWTS could beat Hyundai Country Calendar in its first half-hour, with the latter averaging 9.1% and 7.1% respectively.

TVNZ 1’s 7.00 Saturday anchor, Britain’s Got Talent, dominated all the core demos except 18-39  while Three posted shocking 25-54 lows for the network premiere of The Secret Life of Pets (2.7%) and the season premiere of Chicago Med (0.8%).

TVNZ 2’s The Dark Knight, which overlapped both, averaged 3.6% of 25-54s and 2.8% of 18-49s.

On Friday, 2’s The Simpsons rebounded after unusually low ratings the previous week, to average 4.6% – 8.2% of the key demos, but The New Legends of Monkey could muster only 0.8% – 1.2% for its finale.

While Three’s Graham Norton Show and 7 Days were unassailable, lead-out The Spinoff TV averaged only 2.1% of 25-54s to lose against TVNZ 1’s Coronation Street and tie with TVNZ 2’s Heartbreak Island Uncut.

Tellingly, the latter’s viewership improved in its second and third quarter-hours, when it faced off against Spinoff.
