HD Ratings: Fast Five Not First
Sunday’s network HD premiere of Fast Five couldn’t reverse Packed to the Rafters’ popularity and struggled to keep up with National Treasure: Book of Secrets.
The Fast & Furious sequel averaged 4.9% – 6.2% of the key demographics and only pulled ahead of Secrets in the 18-39 race (6.2% vs 5.2%); Rafters averaged 6.4% – 9.7% on the back of MasterChef NZ’s 6.6% – 12.6%.
TV3’s HD ‘toon line-up also struggled. The 7.00 re-run of The Simpsons averaged 4.2% – 7.0% against The Big Bang Theory’s 5.7% – 9.8%, the “all-new” 7.30 episode, 5.0% – 7.8%, and Family Guy 4.6% – 6.6%.
TV2 improved its 7.30 fortunes with a re-run of Renters (7.5% – 10.9%) drawing 2-3 times as many viewers as the previous week’s Fool Britannia and Anger Management.
TV3’s CSI combo was competitive with TV2’s Saturday movie, The Game Plan, in the 18-49 and 25-54 demos but TV2’s Friday movie, A Cinderella Story, dominated every demo (6.7% – 12.8%).
As a result, TV3’s HD light-ent line-up scored its lowest ratings yet: Modern Family averaged only 2.7% – 4.0%, Sunny Skies 3.5% – 4.2%, and The Graham Norton Show 3.9% – 6.2%.
