HD Ratings: Flash Has Dash But Hits Take a Hit
TV2’s launch of The Flash KA-POWED! the competition on Thursday but pulled fewer viewers than Gotham’s premiere.
The new superhero hour won its slot with 7.0% – 9.0% of the key demographics compared to the Batman prequel’s 8.1% – 10.5%.
But Gotham launched on a Sunday, when more people watch TV than towards the end of the week.
The Flash’s ratings weren’t sensational for such a high-profile debut but they were ahead of the previous week’s movie, Wrath of the Titans.
However, TV2 executives would have been disheartened by lead-out Arrow averaging only 3.4% – 5.0%.
This series did double-digit gangbusters when it first went to air two years ago and although it won the 9.30 hour, that reflects more on the lame competition.
TV One’s Kiwi comedy combo of Cover Band (0.7% – 2.9%) and Short Poppies (0.7% – 2.3%) are bona fide duds, with each topping 2.0% only among household shoppers with kids.
TV’s Botched Up Bodies fared worse, with 0.5% – 1.5%, off the back of Motive’s 1.5% – 2.0%.
It’s been a disastrous week for TV3’s dramas, with Wednesday’s Gang Related averaging only 0.6% – 1.2% of key demos opposite Devious Maids’ time sot-winning 3.6% – 6.2%.
And on Tuesday, TV3’s The Blacklist slumped to a shockingly low 3.4% – 4.6% against TV One’s The Mentalist (4.4% – 7.8%), which hammered it across the board.
TV3’s Sons of Anarchy also took a hiding — 2.9% – 4.9% — from soft TV One crime drama Unforgettable (3.6% – 5.1%), which largely won the 9.30 hour.
These were appalling numbers for TV3 given on both Tuesday and Wednesday The Block NZ easily won its slot.
Meanwhile, TV One’s Intrepid NZ slipped even further in its second outing on Wednesday, to average only 2.2% – 4.1% off the back of My Kitchen Rules NZ’s 5.7% – 7.3%.
Tuesday’s edition of the cooking show rated lower, with 3.3% – 6.5%.
