HD Ratings: Game On for Three’s Titan

Three’s The Titan Games continues to flex its muscle, with Thursday’s episode scoring season-high ratings.

It averaged 4.6% of the network’s core commercial audience, 25-54 year-olds, which was up nearly a point on the premiere’s 3.7% average two weeks ago.

The Dwayne Johnson-fronted challenge has sharply boosted viewership in the 18-49 and 18-39 demographics, too, while holding steady among household shoppers with kids (with whom it won the 7.30 hour).

Its week-on-week gains coincided with TVNZ 1’s season premiere of Design Junkies. It averaged 3.7% of 25-54s and 2.9% of 18-49s, which was comparable with the previous week’s Amazing Spaces special.

But TVNZ 2’s Police Ten 7 and Motorway Patrol took a hit. The former averaged 5.7% of 25-54s (versus 6.4% the previous week) and 5.2% of 18-49s (vs 5.8%); the latter was also down by in these demos, albeit by narrower margins.

However, both shows won their slots as did lead-out Wife Swap, with key demo averages of 3.5% – 7.2%, which was up significantly on the previous week.

TVNZ 1’s Doctor Doctor bled viewers across the board while Three’s Jurassic Park III scored much better ratings than the previous week’s sequel, averaging 2.8% – 4.9% of the top demos (vs 2.1% – 3.3% for The Lost World: Jurassic Park).

At 7.00, Seven Sharp pulled well ahead of The Project and was even competitive with Shortland Street in the 25-54 and HHS/k demos.

TVNZ 2 narrowly won the night with the biggest share of 25-54s but scored easy victories in the other key demos.
