HD Ratings: Girls Comes Up Short But Shorty Surges

The day after TV2 rightly trumpeted the ratings for Monday’s movie-length episode of  Shortland Street’s, its other Kiwi drama staple , Go Girls, suffered a series low for its double-episode finale.

Given the revamped twentysomething drama averaged only 5.0% – 6.4% of the key demographics against weak to middling competition, and on the back of 10.9% – 14.2% for Mitre 10 Dream Home, it’s safe to now call the show Gone Girls, as its prospects of renewal are zilch.

TV One’s NZ doco series, First Crossings, rated 4.7% – 7.8%, after Dynamo: Magician Impossible’s 8.1% – 15.7% and against Grand Designs Australia’s 4.7% – 6.0%.

Newcomer Descent From Disaster averaged 2.8% – 5.9% at 9.30, which was modest until you compare it to HD rival Chicago Fire’s 2.5% – 3.1%.

Monday’s Shortland Street special averaged 19.7% – 27.6% over its 90 minutes, with its final half-hour severely denting X Factor NZ’s appeal: only 7.5% – 8.6%.

On average, almost 720,000 people watched the episode, which also drew more than four times the audience of any other channel in its target demo of adults 18-49 in its time slot.

Lead-out Grey’s Anatomy averaged less than half as many viewers but still largely won the 8.30 hour with 8.8% – 10.9%.

TV One’s Life Flight could muster only 2.4% – 5.4% as the lead-in to Person of Interest (5.2% – 8.6%) while the latter’s lead-out, Castle, averaged 1.6% – 6.0%.
