HD Ratings: Grand Start for Grand Designs NZ

TVNZ 1’s Grand Designs NZ got off to a sturdy start on Tuesday, winning its 7.30 slot in both core commercial demographics.

The first season of the former Three property to screen on TVNZ 1 opened with 5.2% of 25-54 year-olds, the network’s target audience, and 3.7% of 18-49s.

That set up Documentary NZ: No Maori Allowed to win the 8.30 hour with 3.6%/2.1%.

TVNZ 2’s Celebrity Treasure Island averaged 3.0%/2.5% at 7.30, to finish ahead of Three’s Lego Masters Australia (2.2%/1.7%).

CT lead-out Hunted Australia (2.9%/2.3%) held off the overrun of Lego and its stablemate, Emergency (1.3%/1.0%) while TVNZ 1’s Coronation Street averaged a competitive 1.3%/0.9%.

Lego built a stronger viewership on Monday (2.8%/1.9%) but still couldn’t topple CTI (3.1%/2.3%), which out-rated TVNZ 1’s The Check Up but not its lead-in, Fair Go.

At 8.30, TVNZ 1’s My Life is Murder bounced back with an unbeatable 2.6%/2.0%, helping lead-out 20/20 to win with 2.0%/1.6%.

TVNZ 2’s Renters averaged 2.4%/1.6% and Australian Survivor 0.4%/0.2% but Three had the edge with the tail end of Lego, The Rookie (1.9%/1.3%) and Special Victims Unit (1.0%/0.9%).

Note: These overnight ratings exclude viewership of the networks’ +1 SD channels.
