HD Ratings: Hamish & Andy Close the Gap

TV3’s Monday night premiere of Hamish & Andy’s Gap Year Asia proved a competitive alternative to TV One’s reality half-hours and TV2’s sitcoms.

It averaged 6.1% – 7.2% of the major demographics – adults 18-39, 18-49, 25-54, household shoppers with kids – and while it largely finished third, viewership grew over the hour.

Among adults 18-39, it out-rated TV One’s Piha Rescue (5.3% – 11.3%) and Crash Investigation Unit (5.3% – 9.6%), TV2’s Hot in Cleveland (6.8% – 8.2%) and was only a point behind The Middle (8.9% – 11.6%).

It also provided enough of a lead-in for The Bourne Identity to seesaw with TV2’s Wedding Crashers.

The former averaged 5.8% – 9.9% and was tops with HHS whereas the latter averaged 6.8% – 8.5% and dominated with adults 18-39 and 18-49.

TV One’s Person of Interest rated 3.7% – 8.9% and was competitive in the 25-54 and HHS demos.

Lead-out Red Widow averaged 1.1% – 5.1% for its premiere and was most popular with TV One’s target audience, adults 25-54.

TV2’s late-night re-runs of Arrow and Once Upon a Time didn’t rate above 1.7%.

I found myself watching Hamish & Andy – to my surprise some of it was pretty funny. Highlight was the rocket festival – boom!
