HD Ratings: Heartbreak Island Wins Hearts
TVNZ 2’s Heartbreak Island is winning the hearts of 18-39 year-olds and household shoppers with kids.
Last night’s episode averaged 8.9% of HHS/k, to narrowly beat Three’s Dancing With the Stars (8.8%), and 5.5% of 18-39s (vs DWTS’ 5.0%).
But it finished third in the 25-54 demo (4.5%), after DWTS (7.9%) and TVNZ 1’s Fair Go (6.5%) and Highway Cops (7.2%), and in the 18-49 race.
Monday’s results mirror the show’s freshman week, although Friday’s “uncut” edition was a flop across the board, averaging only 1.2% – 2.8% of the core commercial demographics.
It out-rated 1’s Coronation Street in the 18-39 and HHS/k demos but was walloped by Three’s 7 Days and Funny Girls.
Otherwise, Three was back on top on Monday, with Lost & Found winning in all the key demos (4.5% – 7.8%) and lead-out Serial Killers With Piers Morgan topping all but the HHS/k demo.
2’s First Dates Hotel finished second at 8.30 among 18-39s and HHS/k while 1’s Criminal Minds was more popular with 25-54s and 18-49s, and at 9.30, 2’s Grey’s Anatomy crushed 1’s Lucifer (which Netflix has picked up for its fourth season).
Three won the night with 25-54s and 18-49s while TVNZ 2 swept the 18-39 and HHS/k demos.

Smart work by Netflix re: Lucifer. Declining ratings, known but measurable demographic that likely fits in with other content. Buy cheap, minimise risk.
