HD Ratings: Hoarders Lord It Over Kings and Maids
HD dramas Devious Maids and Breakout Kings were buried by SD reality hour Hoarding: Buried Alive.
The TV One series beat its HD rivals in all the key demos, averaging 5.7% – 9.7%.
TV2’s Maids continued to shed viewers, with only 4.5% – 7.6% of key demos on the back of the network’s top-rating HD sitcom block.
But it still trounced the return of TV3’s Breakout Kings, which locked up only 2.4% – 3.1%.
Hoarding averaged a 6.7 rating/26.9 share of viewers aged 5+, Maids a 4.3 rating/17.2 share and Kings, a 2.3 rating/9.3 share.
Kings was never going to be strong, having tanked first time around last year.
But it did suffer from a lead-in of only 3.6% – 5.8% from 3rd Degree.
Yet the programme that preceded the HD current affairs hour, House Rules, averaged a sturdy 5.4% – 10.5%.
Tuesday’s House Rules managed 4.1% – 8.6% against TV2’s Mitre 10 Dream Home’s 7.3% – 12.5%, which was down sharply on previous weeks.
TV One juggernaut Dynamo: Magician Impossible was twice as popular as HD lead-out First Crossings (5.1% – 7.8%), which was up against TV2’s popular but no longer phenomenal The Mentalist (6.5% – 10.5%).
HD stablemate Body of Proof also dominated at 9.30, with 4.7% – 10.2% compared to Descent From Disaster’s 3.0% – 4.2% and Chicago Fire’s 2.2% – 3.5%.
HD sitcom Suburgatory made a strong return on Monday, averaging 9.2% – 13.0% on the back of The Middle’s 9.6% – 15.2% and ahead of Grey’s Anatomy’s 8.4% – 11.6%.
TV One’s HD sleuthing dramas, Person of Interest (4.6% – 7.1%) and Castle (2.7% – 6.4%), also lost to TV3’s SD re-run of Terminator 2 (5.2% – 6.7%).
It followed Storm City’s 3.2% – 5.2%, which drew about a third of the viewership of TV One’s Dog Squad and Life Flight.
At 10.30, TV2’s Shameless largely won its slot, with 4.2% – 7.7% of key demos.
