HD Ratings: Hollow Victory for Prime Over TV3

TV3 may rue sacrificing Sleepy Hollow as part of its restructured Fox deal after Tuesday’s series premiere on Prime largely out-rated NCIS.

NCIS averaged a season low of 1.5% – 3.3% of the key demographics while Sleepy Hollow opened with 1.8% – 3.1% (Prime will repeat the premiere 11pm Saturday, to increase sampling on the back of the third All Blacks-vs-England test).

The time travelling fantasy beat the procedural in the 18-39 and 18-49 demos, and tied with it among household shoppers with kids.

Only among 25-54 year-olds did NCIS have the advantage (sister show NCIS: Los Angeles fared slightly better, on 2.4% – 3.4%).

NCIS wasn’t helped by lead-in Grand Designs Australia averaging only 2.5% – 5.4% against My Kitchen Rules’ 13.0% – 18.1% on the back of Shortland Street’s 14.7% – 19.3%.

But MKR stablemate Mom shed half of its lead-in, with 7.7% – 8.9%, while Two and a Half Men could muster only 5.7% – 6.8% ahead of Revenge’s 2.7% – 4.0%.

TV One’s 7.30 premiere of Highway Cops rated 6.3% – 8.1% and lead-out Water Patrol 5.5% – 7.2% but Britain’s Got Talent  dipped sharply, averaging 4.3% – 5.6% in its first hour and only 2.3% – 4.1% in its second.

Tuesday’s peak-hour HD channel ratings and shares were:

• A18-49: TV One, 6.4 rating/21.4 share; TV2, 9.7 rating/32.3 share; TV3, 3.7 rating/12.5 share
• A18-39: TV One, 5.5 rating/19.9share; TV2, 9.7 rating/34.8 share; TV3, 3.1 rating/11.1 share
• A25-54: TV One, 7.3 rating/22.6 share; TV2, 9.6 rating/29.9 share; TV3, 4.4 rating/13.7 share
• HHS/k: TV One, 8.0 rating/22.2 share; TV2, 12.1 rating/33.5 share; TV3, 5.3 rating/14.7 share.

TV2 also dwarfed its rivals on Monday, with Shortland Street (14.1% – 19.8%), MKR (15.6% – 22.4%) and Trophy Wife (7.0% – 11.0%).

Even struggling Grey’s Anatomy won its slot (3.2% – 4.4%) whereas TV One’s Intelligence averaged 2.1% – 3.9% on the back of Person of Interest’s 3.5% – 7.4%.
