HD Ratings: House Rules On the Rise

House Rules is starting to rate through the roof among household shoppers with kids but is struggling to nail the 18-39, 18-49 and 25-54 demographics.

Thursday’s episode averaged 11.3% of HHS/k, compared to 5.6% – 6.6% for the other key demos.

The HHS/k rating was still far behind the 16.9% for Police Ten-7 and 14.2% for Highway Patrol, which easily won the 7.30 hour in all the major demos.

However, TV3 would be delighted to see Thursday’s House Rules build on Sunday’s, which averaged 10.4% of HHS/k and was slightly higher in the other demos (5.7% – 6.7%).

It was resoundingly beaten by TV2’s The Voice Australia on Sunday (9.5% – 12.0%) but helped lead-out The Blacklist to out-rate TV2’s Agents of SHIELD among HHS/k and TV One’s improving Broadchurch in all the key demos except 18-39 year-olds.

House Rules’ Thursday lead-out CSI also rated well with HHS/k (7.9%) and 3.5% – 5.6% of the rest, compared to 4.1% – 10.2% for TV One’s Big Fat Gypsy Weddings: Luck of the Irish and 6.6% – 8.2% for Arrow.

As a result, the the night was most closely contested in the 25-54 and HHS/k demos.

  1. With the launch of FOUR plus 1 later this month does this signal FOUR will finally go HD despite not having the greatest content?

  2. ‘fraid not, Leo. MediaWorks has no plans to make Four HD. It sees more bang for its bandwidth buck in adding a +1 version to help boost overall viewing of the channel, a strategy it says has worked for TV3.
