HD Ratings: Keeping Up With the Smiths
TV3’s re-run of “Brangelina” spy romp Mr and Mrs Smith on Monday topped all the major demographics and helped TV3 to win the night in the 18-49 and 25-54 demos.
It averaged 7.4% – 9.1% of the key demos off the back of The Block: Glasshouse’s 7.3% – 10.5% after the return of its lead-in, Campbell Live, was walloped by TV1’s resumption of Seven Sharp.
But TV1’s 8.30 drama Stalker largely finished third at 8.30, after TV3’s movie and TV2’s The Mysteries of Laura (5.5% – 11.3%).
Stalker averaged 3.9% – 6.5% and overtook Laura only among 25-54 year-olds, TV1’s target audience. (Stalker lead-out Castle also was resoundingly beaten, averaging just 1.4% – 4.0%.)
Even so, TV2 won’t be happy with Laura’s performance: in its fourth week on air, it still couldn’t rate above 5.7% of the key age demos.
However, with most people back at work, the network’s warhorse Shortland Street is back to double-digit dominance: Monday’s episode averaged 12.1% – 16.5% ahead of The Middle’s 7.3% – 12.3% and Cougar Town’s 5.1% – 8.8%.
TV1’s Broadchurch posted its strongest ratings yet this season on Sunday when it averaged 4.7% – 8.8% off the back of the final of Micro Monsters With David Attenborough (3.8% – 7.9%).
It won the 8.30 hour among adults 18-49 and 25-54, competing against TV2’s New Year’s Eve (4.4% – 7.0%) and TV3’s This Is 40 (4.0% – 4.8%).
Broadchurch lead-out The Missing debuted to 1.5% – 3.9% of the key demos, but quickly shed viewers (its 25-54 viewership fell from 5.6% at the start to 2.3% by the end).
Earlier, TV3’s Kung Fu Panda 2 (4.2% – 6.3%) dwarfed TV2’s Gnomeo & Juliet (3.4% – 4.9%).
