HD Ratings: Kitchen Rules but Crisis Improves

TV3’s Crisis continues to build after a disastrous debut two weeks ago — and in the face of fierce competition from the last half-hour of My Kitchen Rules.

Tuesday’s episode averaged 2.7% – 5.2% of the major demographics, which wasn’t great but was better than the previous week’s 2.6% – 3.5%, especially among household shoppers with kids.

The conspiracy thriller wasn’t helped by its lead-in, the premiere of The House That £100k Built, averaging only 2.5% – 4.2% which was on a par with its time slot predecessor, Grand Designs Australia.

TV3’s other HD drawcard, Hawaii Five-O, drew 1.9% – 4.3% for its season four premiere against TV2’s double-episode season finale of Two and a Half Men (8.3% – 9.9%).

Despite counting down towards next week’s finale, TV One’s Britain’s Got Talent averaged only 3.8% – 5.9% in its first hour and 3.2% – 7.5% in its second, with the latter benefitting from a big lift in HHS/k who switched over post-MKR.

MKR averaged 11.6% – 16.8% on the back of Shortland Street’s 12.1% – 16.2% and against TV One’s Highway Cops (5.4% – 9.3%) and Water Patrol (5.4% – 8.3%).

Tuesday’s peak-hour HD channel ratings and shares were:

TV One’s season premiere of Criminal Minds averaged a modest 3.2% – 6.7% and, along with Intelligence (2.1% – 4.8%), was beaten by TV3’s re-run of War of the Worlds (4.9% – 6.1%), which won its second hour outright.

Earlier, an hour-long Shortland Street averaged 15.8% – 22.3% while TV3’s repeats of Drug Bust and Road Madness drew roughly half the audience of TV One’s Border Security (5.5% – 8.5%) and The Force (7.3% – 9.3%).
