HD Ratings: Kiwi Ninja Warrior a Hit

Three easily won Monday night in all the core commercial demographics, with Australian Ninja Warrior and 9-1-1 proving to be an enduring dynamic duo.

In the 25-54 demo, ANJ (6.4%) lost to TVNZ 1’s Fair Go (7.0%) and Border Security (6.3%) but peaked at 7.0% in its second hour and won outright in the other demos (4.8% – 7.5%).

Its 25-54 rating was up nearly a point week-on-week, possibly because the episode featured a former competitive gymnast from Gore, India Henry (above).

Lead-out 9-1-1 went on to win its slot across the board, with a stunning 4.7% of 25-54s.

It overlapped with TVNZ 1’s dismal double-bill of Take Two (3.0%) and The Trial: A Murder in the Family (1.1%).

TVNZ 2’s Project Runway finished third in the age demos, with averages of 2.5% – 3.4%, but out-rated TVNZ 1’s reality combo among household shoppers with kids.

Stablemate Australian Survivor averaged 3.4% of 25-54s and 2.2% of 18-49s, beating TakeTwo in the former and level pegging with it in the latter. It was easily ahead with HHS/k and up three-tenths of a point with 18-39s.

Andrew Lincoln’s exit from The Walking Dead may have heightened interest in the zombie drama, although its improved averages of 1.3% to 2.7% may have had more to do with it starting half-an-hour earlier than the previous week’s episode.

Earlier, 1 News won in all the key demos while Seven Sharp lost to The Project only among HHS/k.

I wonder if we will have a “New Zealand Ninja Warrior”?
