HD Ratings: Lonely is The Brave
TVNZ 1’s premiere of The Brave on Monday was out-rated by TVNZ 2’s comedies and Three’s 9-1-1.
It averaged 2.3% of its target demographic, 25-54, compared to Young Sheldon’s time-slot winning 6.5%, Will & Grace’s 4.0% and 9-1-1’s 4.1%.
The pattern was the same across the other core commercial demos, partly because 9-1-1 benefitted from a much stronger lead-in than The Brave.
Married at First Sight not only overlapped the start of The Brave but also averaged 7.2% of 25-54 compared to Fair Go’s 3.8% and Border Security’s 3.6%.
Such was MAFS’s popularity that it narrowly out-rated TVNZ 2’s My Kitchen Rules (7.1% of 25-54), even though the latter had a much bigger lead-in from Shortland Street (10.2%).
In contrast, Three’s The Project could muster only 3.7% of 25-54, although the gap between it and TVNZ 1’s Seven Sharp was just one rating point.
The 18-49 and household shoppers races were even tighter while with viewers 18-39, The Project was a nose ahead.
Meanwhile, TVNZ 1’s other premiere, Hunted UK, was haunted by low averages in all the key demos and Prime’s Winter Olympics coverage topped 1% in only the 25-54 and HHS leagues.
Maori TV’s premiere of The Vietnam War averaged 0.3% of 25-54 opposite Prime Rocks’ 1.9%.
Three won the night in the core age demos while TVNZ 2 had the biggest share of HHS.
