HD Ratings: Masked Singer Loses Face

For the first time, Three’s The Masked Singer NZ lost in both the 25-54 and 18-49 demographics on Sunday.

Episode three still rated well but was beaten by TVNZ 1’s stalwarts Hyundai Country Calendar and Sunday.

HCC won its slot with a 25-54 average of 7.5% and an 18-49 average of 5.2%, opposite 4.8% / 3.5% for the first half of Singer.

Singer averaged 5.3% / 3.9% for the full hour but lost in the second half to the first half of Sunday (6.0% / 4.9%).

TVNZ 1 also was tops at 8.30, when Beat the Chasers averaged 3.9% / 2.7% — which helped Line of Duty to bow out with 1.4% / 1.0%.

Three’s free-to-air premiere of Venom averaged only 2.2% / 1.8%, behind the umpteenth re-run of TVNZ 2’s National Treasure: Book of Secrets (2.6% / 2.1%).

However, it did out-rate the other TVNZ 2 movie it overlapped, Suicide Squad (1.4% / 1.1%).

TVNZ 1 easily led the night with the biggest shares of the 25-54 and 18-49 demos.

Sky’s Super Rugby coverage dominated Saturday night’s ratings, with TVNZ 1’s premiere go Fight for the Wild averaging only 1.3% of 25-54s and 1.9% of 18-49s.

The most popular FTA movie that night was Three’s Bad Boys (2.5% / 1.7%), which helped it to win the biggest 25-54 FTA share while TVNZ 1 scored a higher 18-49 share (both were dwarfed by Sky).

Three’s 7.30 Friday night movie Godzilla dominated post-8.30 in the 25-54 and 18-49 demos but the first hour lost to TVNZ1’s The Repair Shop among 25-54s while Sky’s Super Rugby was a magnet for 18-49s.

TVNZ 1 had the night’s biggest FTA shares of both key demos, with Three close behind.
