HD Ratings: Mom and Men Meet Their Match

NCIS stood up to the tough competition TV2 threw at it on Tuesday when the procedural perennial went head-to-head with HD sitcoms Mom and Two and a Half Men.

Both hours were evenly matched, with the channels seesawing in the ratings.

Despite having a powerhouse lead-in in My Kitchen Rules (11.8% – 17.7% of the key demographics), the comedies rated lower than in their traditional Wednesday night slots, where they screened an hour earlier.

Mom averaged 5.1% – 10.4%, and in the age demos topped out at 6.8%, while Men averaged only 4.6% – 7.6%.

They out-rated NCIS (5.1% – 7.4%) in the 18-49 and household shopper demos but lost in the 18-39 and 25-54 demos.

But at 9.30 the NCIS franchise largely ruled, with the Los Angeles spin-off averaging 4.3% – 6.9% to beat Revenge (2.3% – 5.7%) and, except in the 18-39 demo, Hoarding: Buried Alive (4.7% – 5.1%).

Hoarding’s lead-in, Britain’s Got Talent, averaged 4.7% – 7.4% on the back of Water Patrol’s 3.9% – 6.7% and Women in Blue’s 4.2% – 7.9%.

Both of the reality half-hours easily beat TV3’s Grand Designs Australia (3.1% – 5.9%).

Week-on-week, TV3’s ratings and channel shares were largely stable while TV One’s improved at TV2’s cost.

Tuesday’s peak-hour HD channel ratings and shares were:

  • A18-49: TV One, 5.9 rating/19.5 share; TV2, 8.0 rating/26.4 share; TV3, 5.7 rating/18.7 share
  • A18-39: TV One, 5.1 rating/18.3 share; TV2, 7.2 rating/25.9 share; TV3, 5.2 rating/18.7 share
