HD Ratings: Monday-Thursday Catch-Up

Thursday

It’s not surprising TVNZ 2 has postponed a new season of The Undateables for continuing re-runs of The Best of Travel Guides Australia, given how well the series is rating.

Thursday’s episode won the 8.30 hour with 3.2% – 5.9% of the core commercial demographics, compared to 1.2% – 3.7% for TVNZ 1’s The Posh Frock Shop and 0.9% – 2.1% for lead-out Driving Test.

TVNZ 2 dominated from 7.00-9.30, with only Highway Patrol being vulnerable to TVNZ 1’s MasterChef Australia in the 25-54 and household-shoppers-with-kids demos.

Three’s repeat of The Karate Kid only gained the upper hand in its second half, when it topped TVNZ 2’s repeat of Have You Been Paying Attention? and TVNZ 1’s Coronation Street.

TVNZ 2 won the night in three of the key demos and TVNZ 1 led with 25-54s.

Wednesday

After two weeks of top ratings with Grand Designs NZ and Patrick Gower: On Weed, Three’s Wednesday line-up suffered a setback.

GDNZ was still competitive, narrowly beating TVNZ 2’s Have You Been Paying Attention? in the 25-54 and 18-49 demos.

But TVNZ 1’s MasterChef Australia was too strong for both, except in the 18-39, which opted for HYBPA.

TVNZ 2’s new drama, God Friended Me, bowed strongly, winning the 9.30 hour in all the key demos except HHS/k.

Using lead-in 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown as a springboard for God Friended Me not only helped the US drama but also led TVNZ 2 to win the 8.30 hour with 18-39s and finish second to MasterChef Australia in the other core demos.

Three’s House of Champions was a distant third, with averages of 1.2% – 2.9%, as was lead-out Hawaii Five-O.

Prime’s Traffic Cops and Ambulance proved roadworthy, respectively averaging 1.5% and 1.4% of 25-54s (Ambulance was most popular with HHS/k, averaging 2.1%).

TVNZ 1 won the night in three of the core demos and TVNZ 2 with 18-39s.

Tuesday

TVNZ led Tuesday with its top-rating line-up of Shortland Street, Celebrity Treasure Island, Seven Year Switch and First Time Call Girls.

CTI ended its run with key demo averages of 6.8% – 9.6%, and topped 9% ratings in the 25-54 and HHS/k stakes.

Three’s 9-1-1 and TVNZ 1’s Impossible Builds each averaged 3.1% of 25-54s but the emergency service drama led in the other demos.

At 7.30, TVNZ 1’s Paramedics see-sawed with Three’s Married at First Sight NZ: the former was more popular with 25-54s and 18-49s, and the latter with 18-39s and HHS/k.

TVNZ 2 won the night in all the core demos.

Monday

It was similar story on Monday, when TVNZ 2’s SS, CTI and SYS again proved all conquering.

Three’s MAFS and TVNZ 1’s Fair Go/Border Patrol fought it out for second place in the 7.30 hour.

And the penultimate episode of Three’s The Gulf lost to TVNZ 1’s Wild Bill in all the core demos except HHS/k.

Despite TVNZ 2’s primetime wins, TVNZ 1 carried the night in the 25-54 and 18-49 demos.
