HD Ratings: More Chips Off the Old Block NZ
TV2’s HD comedies took another hammering from The Block NZ on Wednesday, with the DIY blockbuster averaging 11.4% – 16.9% of the major demographics (adults 18-39, 18-49, 25-54 and household shoppers).
That helped to lift viewership of 3rd Degree to 5.6% – 7.6%, which delivered Breakout Kings its biggest audience yet: 3.2% – 6.3%.
That was for the 9.30 episode; the series finale, which aired nearly two hours later, after Nightline, averaged 1.3% – 1.9%.
Two and a Half Men averaged 7.1% – 11.0%, the season finale of The Neighbors 6.1% – 8.1%, The Big Bang Theory 6.4% – 9.2% and Cougar Town 7.6% – 9.2% ahead of Tabatha Takes Over’s 5.8% – 8.5%
But they were much stronger ratings than TV One achieved for Family Recipes (3.4% – 4.7), Nothing Trivial (2.2% – 4.0%) and Scandal (0.7% – 1.6%).
Indeed, Scandal’s figures were so bad they could have been mistaken for the network’s +1 broadcast (0.0% – 0.8%).
The Block NZ also dominated Tuesday’s ratings but TV2’s The Walking Dead bounced back, with improved HD quality and ratings (4.7% – 5.9%).
That left Hawaii Five-O with 1.7% – 4.0% while earlier in the night, TV2’s The Mentalist averaged 4.4% – 9.1% against TV One’s Wild Plant: North America’s 4.6% – 5.3%.
The Block NZ also helped TV3 to win Monday night, along with the network’s premiere of Rise of the Planet of the Apes (7.1% – 8.7%).
TV2’s Grey’s Anatomy averaged 5.2% – 8.6% on the back of The Middle’s 8.0% – 12.8% and Suburgatory’s 5.7% – 8.8%.
TV One’s Monday mainstays finished third, with Person of Interest on 4.1% – 7.4% and Castle on 1.6% – 5.2%.
Meanwhile, Prime’s SD premiere of season four of, Downton Abbey, which averaged only 1.3% – 3.2%, is being repeated Saturday at 8.35, pre-empting Death at a Funeral.
