HD Ratings: Movies Nothing to Celebrate

In The Battle of the Bargain Bin Blockbusters, TVNZ 2’s The Wedding Crashers topped Three’s The Green Mile on Wednesday.

The prison drama was competitive in the 25-54 demographic, where it averaged 2.5% over its three-and-a-half-hour broadcast and out-rated 2’s movie in the first hour.

But otherwise Wedding Crashers dominated with 2.6% of 25-54, 2.2% of 18-39 (vs 1.7%, although the two see-sawed in their first hours), 2.3% of 18-39 (vs 1.3%) and 3.8% of household shoppers with kids (vs 1.0%).

This was despite The Green Mile having the stronger lead-in, with House Rules beating Family Food Fight in all the key demos.

TVNZ 1’s reality line-up improved on last week’s dismal performance, with competitive 25-54 averages of 4.0% for Purina Pound Pups to Dog Stars, 3.6% for Gate to the Globe and 3.3% for Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby before dropping to 1.2% for One Born Every Minute.

At 7.00, 1’s The Extreme Cake Makers out-rated Three’s The Project in the core demos while 1 News increased its lead over Newshub Live at 6pm.

Shortland Street again reigned as the most popular show of the night, with averages of 7.6% – 11.6%.

TVNZ 1 had the night’s biggest 25-54, 18-49 and 18-39 shares but TVNZ 2 was well ahead with HHS/k.

Primes’s highest 25-54 rating was 0.7% for Batman Forever.
