HD Ratings: NCIS Catches Up to Go Girls

It would have been unthinkable a year ago: a dinosaur like NCIS going the distance with local hit Go Girls.

But that’s what happened Tuesday, when TV3’s aging crime franchise not only nipped at Go Girls’ heels but even overtook it during crucial stages of the ratings race.

The new-look GG averaged 7.5% – 10.4% in the key demographics over an hour that saw it compete with most of NCIS (6.6% – 9.4%) and the first quarter-hour of NCIS: Los Angeles (6.2% – 7.3%).

In the 25-54 and 18-49 demos TV3 targets, as well as household shoppers, NCIS was ahead of GG for its last half-hour; even in TV2’s 18-39 demo, NCIS and GG were largely neck-and-neck.

GG opened strongly, on the back of My Kitchen Rules’ 16.4% – 22.3%, but shed roughly half its audience over the hour.

HD lead-out Revenge, meanwhile, struggled against NCIS: LA, with only 4.8% – 6.0%.

TV3 also will have been heartened by HD sitcoms Modern Family and Go On largely holding their own against MKR in its final stages: the former averaged 6.3% – 7.0% and the latter, 4.5% – 5.4%.
