HD Ratings: NCIS Sweet As for Three
Three’s double-episode countdown to the season finale of NCIS on Tuesday rewarded it with a night of top ratings.
With The Block NZ as the 7.30 lead-in, the network won three consecutive hours in all the core commercial demographics.
On the back of The Block, the first hour of NCIS averaged 5.3% of the network’s 25-54 demo and the second hour, 3.9%.
The first hour faced off against TVNZ 1’s premiere of The Secret Life of Girls (4.1%) and TVNZ 2’s Wentworth (3.4%); the second hour crushed 1’s 20/20 (1.8%) and 2’s season premiere of Imposters (1.2%).
The trend was the same in the other demos, although Wentworth out-rated Girls with 18-39 year-olds and household shoppers with kids.
The Block blitzed its competition, with averages of 5.2% – 9.3%, although TVNZ 2’s Shortland Street was the night’s most watched show, with averages of 6.9% – 11.4%.
Nonetheless, Three won the night in all the major demos with commanding leads over its rivals.
Three also had a strong night on Monday, when its movie-length documentary, I Am Paul Walker, won its slot, with 4.3% of 25-54, 3.6% of 18-49 and 5.9% of HHS/k.
The 18-39 demo opted for 2’s repeat of Paul Blart: Mall Cop (3.9%) but the race was tight and in all demos the 7.30 movie trailed The Block.
As a result, Three won the night in all the key demos except 18-39.
