HD Ratings: New Zoo Show a Shoo-In
Tuesday’s premiere of Inside Taronga Zoo continued TVNZ 1’s winning streak, topping the ratings in all the core commercial demographics.
It was one of three Australian shows to go head-to-head at 7.30, the others being TVNZ 2’s MasterChef Australia and Three’s Big Brother.
Inside Taronga Zoo averaged 8.9% of TVNZ 1’s 25-54 demo, making it the second most popular programme of the night after 1 News at Six.
The trend was the same in the other key demos, which left Zoo’s Oz rivals struggling for the leftovers. Even so, MasterChef averaged 5.4% of 25-54s and Big Brother, 3.6% (the former led the latter in all the major demos as well as 5+).
Zoo lead-out The Dog Show rated higher than last week’s premiere to win the 8.30 hour in the 5+, 25-54 and 18-49 demos.
Three’s NCIS: Los Angeles was more popular with 18-39s and TVNZ 2’s MKR: The Rivals with household shoppers with kids.
But TVNZ 1 dominated the 9.30 hour with 20/20 winning in the 25-54 and 18-49 demos, and seesawing in the others.
Prime’s premiere of The ABC Murders was as disastrous as its stripping of Years and Years over the previous two weeks, averaging only 0.2% of the channel’s 25-54 target.
TVNZ 1 won the night with easily the biggest shares of all the key demos while TVNZ 2 was well ahead of Three except in the keenly contested 18-49 race.
Here are Tuesday’s 20 most-watched primetime programmes on the free-to-air HD channels (excluding +1 and in order of their 5+ rating and audience share):

WOW, MediaWorks is now down to talking to one interested party regarding the sale of Three, has anyone got any guesses? It sounds like Stuff mentioned Disney but it got taken off so I don’t know what that means. But anyhow it sounds like the decision is only weeks away 🙂
Discovery Channel has been cited most often as the likeliest buyer, Trevor.
I agree Philip but still if it was Disney that would be very interesting. Stuff probably got Disney and Discovery mixed up or not 🙂
