HD Ratings: Nightmare Debut for Dream Home Rival
TV3’s ratings took a hammering on Tuesday when it used Aussie DIY hit House Rules to spearhead a new-look line-up.
House Rules didn’t rule in any of the key demographics, failing to rate above 4.0% for its premiere.
Instead, it averaged only 2.8% – 3.4% against 11.4% – 16.7% for TV2’s Mitre 10 Dream Home and 9.9% – 17.0% for TV One’s Dynamo: Magician Impossible.
Not surprisingly, TV3 didn’t have any leverage to lift the rest of the night’s viewing, with Grand Designs Australia struggling on 3.0% – 5.3% and the premiere of Chicago Fire, 3.5% – 5.2%.
However, TV One and TV2’s HD NZ offerings weren’t flash, either.
Despite Dynamo delivering a dynamite lead-in, the return of First Crossings averaged only 5.6% – 7.3% against Go Girls’ shockingly low 5.5% – 7.6%.
At 9.30, NZ Detectives bowed out with 4.7% – 7.2% while The Year That Was averaged an abysmal 2.7% – 4.2%.
But Shortland Street held up with 16.2% – 26.6% and rated even higher for its hour-long Monday episode: 19.7% – 31.6%.
Monday’s X Factor NZ averaged 10.2% – 16.4% to beat Grey’s Anatomy (8.4% – 13.1%), despite the latter’s 12.4% – 16.8% lead-in from The Big Bang Theory, and Person of Interest (6.3% – 9.4%), which nonetheless is rating much better than Criminal Minds.
TV3 also dominated the rest of the night with its re-run of The Transporter (7.2% – 10.9%).
