HD Ratings: Ninja Warrior Tumbles

Australian Ninja Warrior’s winning streak on Three ended Sunday, when it was squeezed by local heroes on TVNZ 1 and TVNZ 2.

For the first time this season, ANW failed to win its time slot in any of the core commercial demographics.

Sunday’s Kaikoura earthquake special and lead-in Hyundai Country Calendar won the 25-54 and 18-49 demos and Shortland Street and My Kitchen Rules NZ the 18-39 and household shoppers with kids demos.

HCC averaged 8.2% of 25-54s and Sunday 8.5% vs 5.2% for ANW; in the 18-49 stakes, HHC averaged 5.9% and Sunday 5.5% vs 4.5% for ANW.

But Three recovered at 8.30 with its network movie premiere of xXx: Return of Xander Cage blitzing the competition in all the key demos except HHS/k.

It averaged 4.9% of 25-54s (vs 3.5% for The Cry and 3.7% for Australian Survivor), and 4.4% of 18-49s (vs 2.1% for Cry and 2.2% for Survivor).

While Survivor was tops among HHS/k, averaging 5.6% vs xXx’s 3.8%, Three still narrowly won the night in this demo while easily dominating the others.
