HD Ratings: NCIS Combo Lays Down the Law

TV3’s dynamic crime-fighting duo helped it to win the night on Tuesday with its target audience, adults 25-54.

The Yuletide episode of NCIS averaged 7.2% – 8.9% to beat TV2’s Step Dave (5.8% – 9.3%) in all the key demographics except household shoppers with kids.

And at 9.30, NCIS: Los Angeles (6.1%- 8.1%) decisively out-rated HD rival Revenge (3.8% – 6.2%).

The NCIS combo has been the star attraction of TV3’s new season. Whereas one of the network’s brightest hopes, The Blacklist, has had an up-and-down run, these sister shows have built in popularity.

They were helped by a strong night for Grand Designs, which averaged 6.7% – 8.5% (and is well overdue for an HD makeover).

It faced fierce competition from TV2’s phenomenally popular Nabbed (10.1% – 14.2%) and Neighbours at War (8.6% – 13.1%) but trounced TV One’s season finales of Surveillance Oz (2.3% – 3.8%) and Australia’s Deadliest (2.1% – 4.5%).

Earlier in the night, Shortland Street averaged 12.4% – 19.3% and at 10.30, Scandal could deliver only 1.1% – 2.1%.
