HD Ratings: Place Picks Up Pace
The crowdpleasing appeal of NZ’s Got Talent is helping to turn Aussie period drama A Place to Call Home into a Sunday drawcard for TV One.
This weekend’s episode averaged 4.4% – 9.3% of the major demographics and won its slot with household shoppers.
With TV2’s HD premiere of Just Go With It (6.2% – 6.3%), A Place to Call Home was competitive among adults 18-49 and 25-54.
Of course, it had a much stronger lead-in, with Talent averaging an unbeatable 8.1% – 13.3%, and while TV2’s new-look light-ent line-up was lightweight, it still edged out TV3’s HD premiere of Tooth Fairy (4.5% – 4.9%).
TV3’s Saturday HD premiere of Testing the Menu didn’t whet the appetite of many viewers, averaging only 1.9% – 3.5% opposite Country Calendar’s 2.9% – 7.5% and Duck Dynasty’s 3.3% – 3.9%.
The season finale of Ice Road Truckers averaged a roadworthy 4.7% – 6.3% while Blue Bloods scored an above-average 2.7% – 5.6% whereas Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries slipped to 1.9% – 6.3% on the back of This Town’s 4.4% – 6.3%.
TV3 won Friday night with its HD line-up of The X Factor USA (7.9% – 12.2%) and The Graham Norton Show (7.3% – 9.8%) ahead of top-rating Kiwi comedies 7Days and Jono and Ben at Ten.

Im really enjoying A Place To call Home and pleased that its ratings are lifting, especially because of its strong lead-in.
