HD Ratings: Rambo Barely Beats Brokenwood

The Brokenwood Mysteries ended its TVNZ 1 run on Sunday in a tight tussle with blockbuster movies.

In the core commercial demographics, the season final averaged 2.6% of 25-54 year-olds and 2.0% of 18-49s to seesaw with the Hollywood competition on TVNZ 2 and Three.

Three’s network movie premiere of Rambo: Last Blood averaged 2.7% / 2.1% respectively of these demos and TVNZ 2’s re-run of Battleship 2.5% / 1.9%.

Brokenwood’s 25-54 rating was nearly two points higher than the previous season final averaged in 2019 on Prime.

It benefitted from a strong lead-in, with 1 News at 6pm, Hyundai Country Calendar and Sunday easily winning their slots.

Three’s The Block NZ finished ahead of TVNZ 2’s MasterChef Australia, with 4.1% of 25-54s and 3.0% of 18-49s vs 4.0% / 2.4%.

TVNZ 1 won the night with the biggest key demo shares while Three was well ahead of TVNZ 2.

Saturday’s ratings were dominated by Sky’s international rugby coverage, with only 1 News winning its slot, while on Friday Three’s movie 2012 led post-7.30 with 3.3% of 25-54s and 2.6% of 18-49s.

While TVNZ 1’s The Repair Shop won the 7.30 hour outright in the 25-54 demo, it seesawed with 18-49s.

TVNZ 1 won the night’s biggest core demo shares but Three trailed by only a couple of points.
